William was one of 20 RCAF personnel who met their deaths in the crash of their Dakota transport plane at the airport at Estevan, Saskatchewan. Mass funeral services with full military honors were held in the drill hall at Estevan airport.

Son of George Richmond Jackson and Isobel Munro McKenzie (nee McLennan) Jackson, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, husband of Kitty Marie Jackson, of Lansing.
